Shinji Takagi is Professor of Economics at the Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University, where he has taught since 1990. He has held numerous professional appointments over the years, including: Economist at the International Monetary Fund (1983-90); Senior Economist, Japanese Ministry of Finance (1992-94); Visiting Professor of Economics, Yale University (2000-01); Advisor in the IMF Independent Evaluation Office (2002-06); macro-financial expert at the Asian Development Bank (2007-08; 2009-10); and visiting fellow at the ADB Institute (2007-09). He is a specialist in international monetary economics and is the author of nearly 150 publications, including books, articles in international journals and book chapters. Mr. Takagi has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Rochester.
