Marc Knaepen is a gardener and is most known for his television appearances since 1996 on RTBF 1 in the 'SOS jardins' programme, where he gives tips and methods for sustaining your garden. In his passion for gardens, flowers and plants Marc Knaepen wrote 4 books: 'Un Jardin Vivant' (The Life of a Garden), 'Mon Jardin Aquatique' (My Water Garden), 'Le bonheur est dans le potager' (Happiness is in your garden) and his latest book 'Quatre saisons sans pesticides, réalisme ou utopie' (Four seasons without pesticides, realism or utopia).
Marc Knaepen began his professional career in 1982 and wrote mainly articles for divers magazines about gardening and flowers. From 1985 till 1991 he was the curator of the museum of Life of Aquatic Plants in Limal, where he was responsible for the plant collections, the guided tours and the special creative nights at the museum. From 1992 till 2000 he was the creator of the 'Nature Jardins du château de Franc-Waret' and was responsible for all the plant collections and the guided tours.
From 2000 till 2007 he was a scientific advisor and consultant to the direction of Ets Gonthier à Wanze and since 2008 he is the managing director at MJ Plants, where he is specialized in gardening. He is also since 1997 the editor of the monthly magazine 'Jardins et Loisirs'.
