Originally from Marseille, Daniel Costantini has held the CAPES since 1967 for teaching Physical Education and Sports. He also obtained the BESS 3rd degree in 1981, joined the body of Sports Professors in 1985, and the body of Senior Technical and Educational Advisors in 2004. He began his career as a high school teacher from 1967 to 1975, then in Sports-Studies for 10 years (1975-1985). From 1973 to 1985, he was also a club Handball coach and became the National Coach in July 1985. As a Handball player, he won three French Championship titles as an athlete in 1965, 1967, and 1969. He was called up 10 times to the French national team for international matches. As a coach, he won the French Championship in 1975 and 1984 and also the French Cup in 1976. Daniel Costantini was then appointed selector and national coach of the French Handball Team. In this position, he won a Bronze Medal at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 and a Silver Medal at the World Championship in 1993 in Sweden. He became World Champion in 1995 in Iceland, achieved a 4th place at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. The following year, during the World Championships in Japan, the French Team won a Bronze Medal. In 2000, he led the national team to the semifinals of the Euro in Croatia and the following year in France, he won the World Championship title for the second time. Daniel Costantini is regarded by his peers and sports observers as the coach who enabled French Handball to become the most titled nation in the world and to make Handball the most prolific sport in terms of titles and medals in French sports. Since the end of his career, Daniel Costantini has been a consultant on Canal+ Sport and RMC. He is an advisor in Human Resources. He presided over the “Large Venues” Commission, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, Youth, and Sports (2009-2010). Finally, he is the President of the Ambition-Sport Club under the auspices of the CNOSF. For his entire career and contribution to French sports and the promotion of France abroad, Daniel Costantini has been made a Knight of the National Order of Merit (1995), a Knight of the Legion of Honor (2001), and a Knight of the Order of Academic Palms (2002).
