Melissa Ablett-Jordaan is a growth-focused executive driven by a passion for building communities that foster innovation and entrepreneurship. With experience spanning the US, EU, and Asia, she has dedicated her career to supporting startups, investors, innovative corporates, and governments in developing thriving innovation ecosystems. Melissa is also a professional event host and moderator, bringing energy and insight to stages around the world, driven by her belief in the power of connection and storytelling.
Most recently, Melissa served as the Chief Operating Officer of CIC where she oversaw startup hubs across eight cities around the globe. Prior to CIC, Melissa worked in innovation policy in the US, and later scaled a digital media startup from a small team through to acquisition.
Melissa speaks regularly on building entrepreneurial communities and fostering economic development through innovation. She has hosted South Holland’s largest startup conference for four consecutive years and managed large-scale virtual events, including a 3,000-person town hall for Deloitte.
She has mentored startups through programs like TechStars Amsterdam and TU Delft’s Yes!Delft and served on boards of non-profits such as Venture Café Rotterdam, the American Chamber of Commerce in Rotterdam, and Restart Network.
Melissa graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and lives in Rotterdam with her husband, toddler daughter, baby son, and miniature dachshund.

"Al geruime tijd volg ik de heer Fred Butter in zijn vorsingsactiviteiten op het gebied van de hedendaagse ontwikkelingen met betrekking tot de tijdfilosofie en de daaraan gerelateerde aspecten.
Zelf ben ik erg getroffen door de presentaties die hij gloedvol en enerzijds warm gevoelsopen maar anderzijds ook professioneel concreet en nuchter neerzet. Zijn acteerervaringen maken dat wat hij betoogt, recht bij mij en het publiek binnenkomt en beklijft.
Zoals iedereen die een van zijn lezingen heeft meegemaakt, wordt een dergelijke gebeurtenis niet vergeten. Een voorbeeld: van al de presentaties en lezingen die zijn gegeven in het World Forum tijdens het Zesde Zintuig Event - waar ik persoonlijk mee te maken heb als medeorganisator - wordt de lezing van de heer Butter het meest in herinnering gebracht. Niet alleen vanwege het hoge spiritueel wetenschappelijke kennisgehalte maar ook omdat lezingen die de heer Butter verzorgt, impact blijft houden bij het publiek.
Dit heeft alles te maken met de combinatie van vakkennis, enthousiasme en een interactieve opstelling naar het publiek toe. Men woont geen lezing of presentatie bij van hem, maar men beleeft het. Men wordt geraakt. Dat is het grote verschil met de meeste andere sprekers.
Zijn presentaties groeien door zijn steeds weer uitbreidende kennis door de onderzoeken die de heer Butter blijft ondernemen. Het geeft zijn publiek vertrouwen omdat je iemand hoort spreken met een gedegen studie van alle feiten die er bekend zijn over 2012: een uitvoerige uiteenzetting over het begrip TIJD, het cyclische aspect daarvan en onze lineaire kalender, het eind van de (cyclische) Maya kalender, maar ook van een aantal kosmologische tijdperken en vooral de verandering van economie en samenleving in een snel veranderende wereld. Een wereld waarin er een nieuwe generatie mensen opkomt in een eeuw waarin de technologische ontwikkeling een ongehoord hoge vlucht neemt. Sneller dan ooit.
De heer Butter zet niet alleen met enthousiasme en (wereldniveau!) kennis van zaken de feiten neer, maar hij biedt tegelijkertijd een oplossing om soepel met de veranderingen mee te kunnen gaan.
Een veelzijdig man met grote vakkennis van bovengenoemde zaken en het vermogen om in overdrachtelijke zin mensen te boeien en tijdens de gehele presentatie op het puntje van hun stoel te houden."
