Physicist, professor emeritus of physics at the School of Industrial Physics and Chemistry in Paris (ESPCI), Pierre Papon worked on the physics of phase transitions. He was Director General of the CNRS and CEO of the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER). He is honorary president of the OST (Observatory of Science and Technology), Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation House of Human Sciences in Paris (FMSH) and scientific advisor to the International Futuribles group.He is the author of a dozen books on physics issues, energy policy research and forecasting.He has published at “Editions du Pommier” in 2012, a book devoted to the issues of energy, “Energie : la science peut-elle changer la donne ? “. His latest book, “A la recherche du futur, prospective 2050 science et société” ,(published in September 2012 at Albin Michel) is a prospective trial of science and technology in 2050 in connection with societal issues.
