Born in 1965, Pep Torres has a renaissance-style approach and works as an inventor, creator consultant, speaker, writer and also collaborates on TV and radio programmes.
Inventor and creator
Pep Torres has been working as an inventor and creator for over twenty years. He has sat on the jury of such prestigious international innovation fairs as the Inpex in Pittsburgh, Inova in Zagreb, Euro Invent in Romania and the British Invention Show in London.
Since 2005, he has been running the renowned invention and creativity studio, Stereonoise S.L., a company that designs new products, offers creative consultancy and generates media attention for its clients by using creativity in its broadest sense, inspiring new methods of approach in closed environments and acting as a catalyst for change.
His inventions and creations have appeared in press all over the globe (The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine, The New York Times, among others) and in 2006 he was awarded the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona in the multimedia section for the exhibition “Futour, un tour pel futur”.
One of his most brilliant ideas was a vending machine with a bicycle attached to it. The idea was used in a campaign to tackle childhood obesity in the EU: to receive the desired product, the participant has to pedal until they burn the number of calories the product contains. The prestigious publication Time Magazine voted it one of the 50 best inventions of 2009.
In 2008, and for the next three years, he was the creator and manager of ATTIC, the International ideas and Inventions Fair held annually in the coastal town of Vilanova i la Geltrú. In March 2011 he founded the miba, the Barcelona Ideas and Inventions Museum. This is the first permanent museum dedicated to ideas and inventions that supports and channels creativity and invention through inspiration, training, communication and by building relationships with leaders at all levels.
Owing to his extensive experience in TV and radio as well as his career in innovation, Pep Torres has given over two hundred conferences and workshops at business schools (EADA, ESADE, etc), universities (UAB, Deusto, etc) seminars for entrepreneurs (Barcelona, Andalusia, the Basque country, etc) innovation fórums (IMPIVIA – the Autonomous Government of Valencia, La Rioja etc) and companies and institutions (La Caixa, Arluy, Simply supermarkets, Ogilvy, etc). All of which carry his personal seal: a combination of humour, irony and surprises in a fast-paced TV-style format that captures and holds the audience?s attention.
He has also written books regarding inventions, thoughts and creativity.
