About Marga Hoek

For over twenty years, Marga Hoek has proven her leadership as CEO, director and advisor to national and international organizations, in government, science & education and especially business. Like no other she knows how to create synergetic links between these sectors, with the mission of accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy and society. She is the expert in the field of sustainable entrepreneurship and investing in and financing businesses that have a direct, positive impact on sustainable development.

She founded the network organization ‘De Groene Zaak’ (The green business) with a number of CEOs in 2010, where she was managing director until July 2016. This was followed in 2013 by ‘Het Groene Brein’ (The green brain), an equally unique network of more than 80 scientists, who develop and share the corresponding new knowledge with society in a multidisciplinary way. Since October 2016, she has been CEO of Business for Good. This company supports sustainable scale-up companies to grow faster and access new markets all over the world.

Leading the New Economy
Marga Hoek enjoys international recognition as one of the key figures in the transition to the New Economy. As a keynote speaker, she knows how to inspire and motivate her listeners at home and abroad with her passion, clear vision and well-founded knowledge. She described her innovative view of business, sustainability and what the future still holds for us pictorially in her book ‘Zakendoen in de Nieuwe Economie’ (Doing Business in the New Economy), Management Book of the Year 2014. The book was described by the jury as “a book that is at the forefront of reality”.

In 2016, the International version was released under the title “New Economy Business”. She wrote this book to show how successful business and sustainability go hand in hand. She also regularly writes articles for the Huffington Post and others.

In her book ‘The Trillion Dollar Shift’, Hoek talks about how we can use business and capital to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By connecting to these goals, good business can be done, resulting in a better world by fulfilling those “world goals”. It provides opportunities for businesses and capital to unlock markets that offer endless profit potential while working toward the Sustainable Development Goals. The book ‘The Trillion Dollar Shift’ won the 2019 international Axiom Business Book Award.
