Jos loves heat, or better he loves heating. He runs the innovative scale-up business H2O Systems. A company that designs and builds systems producing heat out of water for heating homes. The key for heating is hydrogen. This becomes increasingly known as a ‘stuff with potential’. Policy makers fall over each other with promises that this ‘stuff’ is going to safe our energy future. The problem with hydrogen however is that it figuratively speaking is charged with a colour. The least popular colour is gray. Gray hydrogen is being used for a variety of applications. It however is produced for and by the industry and made with enormous amounts of polluting CO2 energy.
The current hype by policy makers is green hydrogen produced with sustainable green energy. In this sense green means ‘without the use of fossil fuel’. Unfortunately green hydrogen is hardly being produced. All well-intentioned initiatives are about industrial applications. The consumer doesn’t have access to green hydrogen. This is exactly what H2O Systems is going to change by providing consumers sustainable green hydrogen.
Sustainability is not synonymous with green nor growth. Sustainability represents safety, prolonged and stable. Growth is not the same as more size or mass. Sustainability and growth are related to notions like efficient and ‘smart’. If green is possible then growth becomes ‘green smart’. This is a different concept of innovation.
For decennia Jos is focussed on sustainability. Not as a ‘marketing’ expression for a beautiful ornamentation, but as a centrepiece for establishing innovative and sustainable social and organizational structures.
Jos is an economist with liberal roots. Although he has experienced a hard international business school, he was triggered by the influence of human behaviour on economic structures and entities. This interest still remains but is strongly coloured by a wide range of international and multicultural projects and assignments where sustainability and growth are playing a dominant role. Experienced in merger & acquisition in areas where fossil fuels are decisive have radically changed his beliefs about the damaging effects of fossil fuels.
The scale-up he is invited to run and expand designs innovative systems powered by green hydrogen. These systems produce green hydrogen ‘off grid’ and ‘on demand’ and bring hydrogen within consumer reach. Systems that produce “Heat from Water” and the only waste is water.
His presentation style is naughty, creative, interactive and sometimes provocative. Intertwined with humour, self-criticism and self-mockery using anecdotes about success and failure from his own practice.
