Dr. Bianca Acevedo (Colombia, 1978) is a research scientist, writer, and public speaker who specializes in love, sex and the brain. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from New York University and a PhD in Social/Health Psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She conducted post-doctoral research in Public Health at Weil Cornell Medical College in New York City and another pos-doctoral research in Neuroscience at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Dr. Acevedo is a scientific consultant based in New York City and California where she conducts research in areas including love, health, sensitivity, personality, substance use, and sexual behavior. She teaches courses in Interpersonal Relationships, Communication, Positive Psychology, and Research Methods, and is certified to teach Kundalini Yoga courses in Authentic Relationships and the Mind and Meditation.
She has published several widely-recognized articles on the science of love which have appeared in media outlets around the globe and which she has presented both nationally and internationally. Acevedo is fluent in English and Spanish is recognized as a leading love researcher. She has received numerous awards including the 2012 International Woman in Science Award.
