Ben van der Burg is Commercial Director at Triple. Triple develops applications for mobile phones, develops virtual reality software and builds artificial intelligence solutions. He makes a podcast about technology (De Technoloog) and has a weekly column on BNR news radio. He is also regularly asked to comment on technology. Ben obtained his MBA from Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
Ben was active in long track speed skating between 1986 and 1991. In 1990 he came second at the World Allround Championships in Innsbruck, behind Johann Olav Koss and ahead of companion Bart Veldkamp. After his sporting career, he studied Dutch Language and Literature and subsequently started making television programs, publishing literary skating books, writing columns and providing skating commentary for Eurosport. He started two digital start-ups: Slidejockey (presentation tool) and Repudo (the predecessor of Pokémon Go).
From 2000 he worked at the mobile telephony company Vodafone in the Netherlands and Japan. After Vodafone, he broadened his knowledge of the digital world at online advertising agency WebAds. There he focused on revenue models for publishers.
