Andreas Larsson is the Best Sommelier of the World 2007. He has a discerning palate and is a passionate wine lover. He is known not only for tasting abilities and vast knowledge, but also for his friendly and professional approach. He has a relaxed manner in which he talks about and teaches wine and food.
His special affinities reside in the classical French vineyards. Yet his passion for discovery and good wine takes him across the globe.
Despite his title and high demand he still maintains his sommelier functions and does so as the wine director in the renowned restaurant PM & Väner in Växjo Sweden.
There he oversees the sommelier team and works closely with the chef on menus, food & wine pairings and manages an exquisite 15000 bottle cellar containing gems from around the world. Currently this list has almost 2000 references and is amongst the best in Northern Europe.
Educating and developing sommellerie are two priorities, Andreas lectures at various restaurant schools and sommelier organizations. He is also a frequent contributor to several wine publications. Larsson is often hired as a taster, lecturer and consultant. This work is not limited to the most famous wine producing nations but indeed takes place in countries as diverse as Japan, Hong Kong, Norway, Brazil, etc.
In 2008, he took the first step to becoming more involved in the creation of wine and other beverages. With an ever broader technical knowledge base, Andreas has created the ALS “Andreas Larsson Selection” label. His involvement includes tasting the participating wines and spirits during the various steps or their creation, and playing an important advisory role in their blending process.
Thanks to this permanent contact with restaurant clients Andreas is well aware of what the consumer is after. His travels and numerous conversations allow him to draw conclusions on different types of wines and tastes.
His consideration for the right wine for the right occasion is rooted in his kitchen experience. Andreas pairs waters, wines, meats, seafood, cheeses, chocolates, coffees, colors, aromas and flavors of all sorts.
