Alex graduated Moscow National University of Food production, with the software engineer degree.
In 1999-2003 Alex worked in IDES “Computerra”, and then – in RBC media holding at a position of the leading analyst. He participated in the organization of the first IPO in the IT market and media – RBC. That IPO also became the first in the history of Russia public capital raising in domestic market. Further he participated in realization of M & A strategy of RBC.
In 2003 Alex became the co-founder of the LETA company which was included subsequently into 50 largest IT companies of Russia.
In 2005 Alex headed the Russian representation of the international company ESET entering in First 20 the largest developers in the field of information security. ESET NOD32 antivirus for some years became one of leaders of the Russian market, having taken the second place from shares about 30%. Now the ESET Russia company is included into LETA Group, is the world’s largest partner of ESET and exclusively develops ESET business in 11 countries, most successfully developing in Russia, India and Kazakhstan. For today the company has more than $40 million annual revenue, and the Mr. Chachava remains it majority owner.
In 2008 in connection with acceptance of new strategy of development Alex created LETA Group holding and took President position. He acted as the investor in a number of successful IT projects which then were included into LETA Group holding. For 3 years, despite crisis, the revenue structure significantly changed and the rate of return grew more than twice. The Damask and Group-IB companies which have included into LETA Group, became leaders in the segments of the market in Russia – electronic turns and investigation a cyber crimes respectively. Capitalization of LETA Group grew for 3 years several times and made more than $100 million, and Alexander Chachava became the main owner of the company.
In 2012 he initiated of the basis of corporate venture IT fund LETA Group Investment&Venture. Investments into technological startups became strategy of fund. Already to the middle of 2012 in a portfolio of LETA GIV there was 3 well-known startup, the winner of numerous competitions: Displair, Budist.ru and RedHelper.
