Jong Bum Kim is Professor of International Trade Law at Yonsei University, Seoul Korea since 2012. He was previously Associate Professor of International Trade Law at Yonsei University and Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management.
Jong Bum Kim is Professor of International Trade Law at Yonsei University, Seoul Korea since 2012. He was previously Associate Professor of International Trade Law at Yonsei University and Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management. Dr. Kims research focuses on the question as to whether the rise of mega-RTAs poses threat to the world trading system. In particular, he is interested in how regional trade agreements should be brought into conformity with the WTO law. Dr. Kim received BA in economics from Columbia University, M.Phil. in economics from the University of Oxford, and Ph. D. in economics from the University of California, Riverside. In addition, he received JD from the Duke Law School. Prof. Kim has published extensively in the field of international economic law in journals such as World Trade Review, Journal of International Economic Law, and Journal of World Trade. In addition to his scholarly background, Dr. Kim served as Director of FTA Goods Negotiation Division in the Koreas Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade between 2005 and 2007. During this time, he was Lead Negotiator in the rules of origin division in the KORUS FTA, the Korea-EFTA FTA, and the Korea-ASEAN FTA, among others. Since 2007, Dr. Kim has served as advisors for Koreas Customs Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
