About Jeroen Koolhaas & Dre Uhrhahn

HAAS&HAHN Comprises of artists Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn. Together they have created monumental art projects in underserved areas around the globe. Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Urhahn joined forces In 2005 under the name Haas&Hahn. In the last decade they have created public artworks in such diverse countries as Brazil, Haiti, Curacao, Sweden, the United States and the Nederlands.

HAAS&HAHN’S projects create a social and visual dialogue with their surroundings, creating beauty in places that most people would not expect to find it. Due to the sheer size of their projects it is impossible for the two artists to work alone and so they work with locals in the area they are painting. This has created a unique ‘business’ model; They train the local residents from the area in which they are working, eventually employing them to work autonomously on the project. Not only do they raise the profile of the area but they empower the community directly. By giving the participating residents valuable training they are equipped with a genuine skill set than can be an asset for life.

As you might imagine, so much work and traveling across the globe in the past ten years brings with it a wealth of experience. HAAS&HAHN have spoken at universities and cultural centers around the world, given TED talks, met world leaders and gang bosses in the same afternoon, all in a days work for artists who work in the areas they choose.
