Michel Volle is an acclaimed economist who mainly focus on the relationship between thought and action. He wrote substantially on the topics economy, industrial statistics, data analysis and e-economy. He worked in the public and private sector and was active for among others Air France and ANPE. He is also the founding member of ‘Club des maîtres d'ouvrage des systèmes d'information’ on which he was honoree president for a couple of years. He also created Volle Systèmes d’information, which gives advise for design and organization of information systems for operation and decision-making, implementation of new technologies and the use of economic calculation in companies.
Volle graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and promoted there in 1960. He also graduated from the L' École nationale de la statistique et de l'administration économique (National School of Statistics and Economic Administration), promoted there in 1965 and received an doctorate in economic history in 1980.
From 1983 to 1988 he was advisor to the Deputy Director of CNET (Centre National d'Études des Télécommunications) and responsible for the operating account of ISDN and market studies with email and business communications on the network market. From 1996 to 1998 he was advisor of Christian Blanc, president of Air France’s information system. Volle established management assistance for the Air France operations by developing a system of information process from business processes and modelling object-oriented processes. He developed a simulation model of the costs of the air transport, reformed it to the conditions of the budget discussion and relate it to the data.
He wrote his first book in 1982 about the history of the industrial statistics, in 1984 he published ‘Le métier de statisticien’ (The Job of a statistician), in 1997 ‘Analyse des données’ (Data Analysis), in 1999 Économie des nouvelles technologies (Economy of new technologies), in 2000 ‘e-economy’, in 2006 ‘De l'Informatique: Savoir vivre avec l'automate’ (Information: Know life with automations) and in 2008 ‘Prédation et prédateurs’ (Predation and predators).
