Professor Xiaodong Li graduated from the School of Architecture at Tsinghua University in 1984 and completed his PhD at Delft/Eindhoven University of Technology in 1993. He is a practicing architect, educator, and researcher on architecture. He established Li Xiaodong Atelier in 1997, and his work ranges from interiors, to architecture, to urban spaces. His Yuhu Elementary School project is one of his best-known works. He also teaches architecture, and has taught at the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore. Currently, he is a professor at the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, in Beijing.
He is also a researcher, and his publications (both articles and books in English and Chinese) cover a wide range of interests, from cultural studies, to the history and theory of architecture, and urban studies. Professor Li has won many awards, including GQ men of the Year 2011 and Aga Khan Award for Architecture Winner 2010.
