Bill Magill has held senior positions in venture capital, investment banking, and consulting, and is an Adjunct Professor at INSEAD, teaching a course on private equity. He was a managing director for 9 years at TeleSoft Partners, a venture capital fund in Silicon Valley, where he led investments in clean technologies and communications companies. Through the telecom boom of the 1990s Bill was a market analyst with RHK, a leading consultancy during the time, and a senior research analyst at Montgomery Securities — later Banc of America Securities — covering optical communications stocks. Bill started his career building laser systems for TRW and Livermore National Labs.
Bill has lived and worked both in Europe and the U.S. and now splits his time between the two geographies. He is a graduate of the Texas State Technical Institute, University of California at Davis, and San Francisco State University. Bill speaks regularly at international technology forums and has served as a selection committee member for the Materials Research Society's annual Entrepreneurship Challenge and the Cleantech Group's San Francisco Investment Forum. He also provides advisory services to various technology initiatives in France and Spain.
