Robert Verweij is a chef and vinologist. Every day revolves around food, drink, and knowledge transfer for him, ultimately always focusing on people, their behavior, and experience.
You cannot become a cook, you are one.
Robert passionately told this to his mother at the age of five. While she pretended his pancakes turned out well.
After his childhood on a farm, he became an “official” cook in the hospitality industry at the age of 15. At 23, he started his own company, TeesT, which evolved from a freelance chef business to a national training center in cooking and wine. During “Corona,” he launched the digital course platform CookingAcademy.nl with over a thousand culinary videos. Robert, along with his team of instructors, taught thousands of hobby and professional chefs to cook and bake better, both in terms of techniques and creativity and inspiration. Additionally, he appeared for several years on RTL4 as a TV chef on Life & Cooking and 4ME.
Robert invests a lot in culinary education himself, achieving the title of Vinologist in 2005. Every day revolves around food, drink, and knowledge transfer for him. Always with a good story and context. He finds not only the “how” but also the “why” important. Ultimately, it always focuses on people, their behavior, and experience. A professional hospitality kitchen, with its simplicity, is a good metaphor for other matters in, for example, the business world.
He has a girlfriend and two children. He spends his free time practicing standup comedy and sports.
