Général (r) Vincent Desportes
Major General of the French Army - Strategy and Leadership
After an operational career that led him to hold multiple commands, Vincent Desportes shifted towards higher education, strategic thinking, and international affairs. In this context, he notably served in the United States between 1998 and 2003. After two years within the US Army, from which he graduated from the War College, he was a Military Attaché at the French Embassy in Washington. Upon returning to France, he was appointed Defense Advisor to the Secretary General of National Defense before taking the helm of the Forces Employment Doctrine Center; for three years, he was responsible for developing strategies and lessons learned from the army. From 2008 to 2010, he led the War School, the strategic training institute for the armed forces.
