About Philippe Chalmin

Philippe Chalmin is a reference in the field of economics and international markets. Specializing in agricultural markets and raw materials, he is a member of numerous associations, universities, and economic analysis and advisory organizations. A graduate of HEC and an agrégé in History, he also holds a Doctorate in Letters and Human Sciences and has a state doctorate in history.

Currently, Philippe Chalmin is a professor at the University of Paris-Dauphine (since 1994 and Director of the Master’s program in International Affairs since 1999). He is a member of the Council for Economic Analysis under the Prime Minister, president of the Observatory for Price Formation and Food Margins under the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Economy and Finance, a member of the High Council for Biotechnology and the Council for Voluntary Sales.

He founded in 1985 and has been presiding over CyclOpe, the main research and study institute in France on international markets, he is an economic columnist for Le Monde and a regular speaker on television and radio. Author or editor of around forty books and numerous scientific articles, he served as president (1998-2000) and then honorary president of the Society of Political Economy and as a consultant to the World Bank and the European Union.

Throughout his career, Philippe Chalmin has worked at GRESA – HEC (audit of agricultural cooperatives, food marketing studies, at the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts to the French Insurance Society (now Euler Hermes). He is currently employed at the University of Paris Dauphine and president of Cyclope.

Philippe Chalmin is a Knight of the Legion of Honor, a knight of the National Order of Merit, a knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit, a Knight of the Order of the Lion of Senegal, and a gold medalist of the Academy of Agriculture.
