1. Media and law

With the rise of social media, law and reputation for individuals and companies have become increasingly important. News spreads faster and on a larger scale. This has many advantages, but also carries significant risks: from online shaming to being ‘cancelled’.

2. Cybercrime

Cybercrime is an increasingly significant problem, which barely existed at the start of this century. Almost half of the crimes in the Netherlands now have an online character, from hacking, fraud to bank spoofing. In this lecture – titled “Cybercrime: from balaclava to hoodie” – I discuss the rise of cybercrime, what the risks are, and what you should do if you become a victim.

3. Guardians of the rule of law and safety

Journalists, lawyers, and politicians are increasingly facing threats and security measures. As a lawyer – and son of a crime reporter – I grew up with this reality. In this lecture, I not only share my personal story, but also discuss safety, security, and the important work that guardians of the rule of law perform.
