Born in 1954, Army General Jacques Mignaux entered service in 1974. Upon graduating from ESM Saint-Cyr in 1977, he chose the national gendarmerie and attended the officer training course at the Melun Officers’ School for a year.
He then alternated between command positions and roles in central administration. After serving six years in mobile gendarmerie, in Versailles and on Réunion Island, he commanded the Bourges gendarmerie company from 1984 to 1987, the departmental gendarmerie group of LOIRET from 1994 to 1997, and the departmental gendarmerie legion of Île de France in 2003-2004.
At the Directorate General of the National Gendarmerie (DGGN), he held sensitive positions, whether in roles related to the missions and employment of the gendarmerie or in human resources functions. In 2002 and then from 2005 to 2007, he served in the office of Nicolas Sarkozy, Minister of the Interior. In 2007, he was entrusted with the Directorate of Operations and Employment of the DGGN, and the following year, he became the second-in-command of the gendarmerie and was promoted to the rank of army corps general. In April 2010, he was appointed Director General and elevated to the rank of army general. He held these significant positions for three years and left active service on April 10, 2013.
Graduated from the War School, with proficiency in Italian and English, he carried out numerous missions abroad, within the framework of the gendarmerie’s commitments for internal security and defense missions, as well as within the framework of partnerships established with foreign security forces.
He is a Commander of the Legion of Honor and holds both French and foreign decorations.
