Holder of a literary baccalaureate from Versailles, Éric Halphen studied law at the Faculty of Assas and then entered the National School of the Judiciary (class of 1982). In 1984, he became an investigating judge in Douai, then in Chartres. In 1989, he was appointed to the court in Créteil, still as an investigating judge.
It was as the investigating magistrate in the Paris HLM case and the Hauts-de-Seine HLM case that Éric Halphen came to the forefront of the media. The Paris HLM case began in 1994. He was removed from the case in 2001, after considering charging Jacques Chirac.
In 2002, Éric Halphen left the judiciary and aimed for a literary and political career. He published “Seven Years of Solitude” with Éditions Denoël, “Cursed Kisses” with Éditions Buchet-Chastel, and “The Ball of the Outraged” with Éditions Privé.
He was a member of the C6R (Convention for the 6th Republic) and is the founder of the Anticor association.
Finally, a great sports enthusiast, Éric Halphen is a member of the legal commission of the Professional Football League and a member of a commission created by the President of the French Athletics Federation. He can therefore also intervene in this field.
