Television presenter, writer, columnist, and philanthropist Sander de Kramer is one of the most colorful figures in Rotterdam. The highly engaged journalist became nationally known at a young age as the editor-in-chief of the homeless newspaper and as the national coach of the Dutch homeless football team. De Kramer was named Rotterdammer of the Year in 2001 for his efforts on behalf of the homeless. Since 2008, he has been presenting television programs for KRO-NCRV. He is known for popular programs such as Keuringsdienst van Waarde, De Rekenkamer, and Reisadvies Negatief. For these shows, he traveled the world to expose injustice. He goes to great lengths for this mission. De Kramer has ventured countless times into war zones and other dangerous places to change the lives of oppressed people.
In West Africa’s Sierra Leone, De Kramer personally rescued countless orphans from the diamond mines. The children were heavily exploited and worked for less than a dime a day. De Kramer experienced many perilous adventures during his travels, which he can recount with great detail. In gratitude for his efforts in Sierra Leone, he was crowned Chief by two tribes. De Kramer has now been to Africa more than 100 times. His foundation, Sunday Foundation, which he co-founded with Hugo Borst, has given more than 200,000 people a future. For his courageous work, Sander de Kramer has been awarded the Laurenspenning, the Paul Neigh Penning, the Majoor Bosshardt Prize, and the prestigious Roosevelt Four Freedom Awards.
De Kramer has been presenting the human interest program De Wandeling and Het Gevoel van de Vierdaagse for six years now. Additionally, De Kramer has been a columnist for De Telegraaf since 2002. Furthermore, Sander de Kramer is the author of the bestseller ‘Van Miljonair tot krantenjongen’, which describes remarkable stories about life on the streets.
