Diana Matroos is an interviewer and presenter for television, radio, and a highly sought-after moderator.
Diana Matroos has become a well-known journalist and media personality through her work as a regular face of RTLZ News, RTL News, Buitenhof (VPRO), and BNR Nieuwsradio.
She gained widespread recognition with her almost British/American approach during the intense questioning of the leaders of the six largest parties at the major RTL Election Debate in Theater Carré, which attracted approximately 1.6 million viewers.
The TV portrait she created for RTL 4 about Prince Constantijn in honor of his 50th birthday, featuring a candid interview and never-before-seen footage, also contributed to her fame.
She now presents the program BNR’s Big Five, where she interviews an influential guest for an hour each day on an important theme. Over the past years, she has hosted top figures from every sector in the Netherlands. From Frans van Houten, Herna Verhagen, Princess Laurentien to Kim Putters, Herman Tjeenk Willink, and Ingrid Thijssen.
Diana also regularly welcomes top international guests for her program and has conducted various in-depth English interviews on radio and TV, as well as at online conferences, with great thinkers like Cody Keenan (Head Speechwriter for Obama, who also co-authored his book), Walt Disney’s creative mind Duncan Wardle, and the ambassadors of the US and the UK.
Diana’s strength lies in her sharp analysis and unflappable calm demeanor, which she honed while covering many breaking news broadcasts for RTL, such as the attacks in London and Paris. It is this strength and experience she brings when she serves as a moderator, host, or interviewer at a congress or seminar, such as during the celebration of 200 years of the Kingdom with various live connections abroad and world leaders in the audience and on stage.
Diana thrives in both social and business environments. Her analysis is sharp, her demeanor humane. This puts people at ease to share their stories and brings even tough subjects to life. She achieves this through her refreshing presence and sense of urgency. Diana’s professional approach is characterized by the speed with which she masters any subject and gets to the heart of the story. Due to her years of TV experience and the fact that she conducts interviews in English, she is also a highly sought-after moderator for online (global) conferences/talk shows.
Diana Matroos is an experienced journalist. Immediately after graduating from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (CMV), she started working at a regional TV station. She quickly transitioned in 1999 to the national broadcaster RTL, where she became the regular face of the primetime RTL 4 news program 4-in-het-land. Since 2004, Diana has been the regular presenter of the economic TV program RTLZ News, followed by Buitenhof in 2019. Since early 2012, she has been one of the regular presenters of BNR Nieuwsradio, where she has hosted various programs such as BNR Beeldbepalers and Zakendoen Met.
Diana Matroos is sharp, driven, independent, empathetic, and above all, authentic. She has a passion for presentations and interviews across the country, as she excels in the unexpected direct interaction she creates with the audience.
In addition to being a moderator and presenter/interviewer for radio and television, Diana is also committed to society. She is a board member for SIRE and made a diversity statement in 2015 that gained national press attention. Since then, she has been advocating for (cultural) diversity both in front of the camera (e.g., moderator at the SER Conference in the presence of the Queen) and behind the scenes at companies. She believes that we should unite in the Netherlands rather than fight against each other, as unfortunately happens now. Recently, Diana has also started giving lectures on this topic.
