Dr. rer. nat. Dipl.-Geogr. J. Daniel Dahm has dedicated his work to sustainable development of people, cultures, and nature since the 1990s, through scientific, entrepreneurial, and civil society efforts. As a scientist, JDD has conducted long-term transdisciplinary research on this topic, including at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy in the working group ‘New Models of Prosperity’ and the department ‘Sustainable Production and Consumption’ at the Institute for Household and Consumer Economics at the University of Hohenheim and at the Natural History Museum in London in the Department of Botany. In 2005, he gained international recognition as a co-author of the ‘Potsdam Manifesto 2005 & Potsdam Memorandum’, a follow-up to the Russell-Einstein Manifesto of 1955.
JDD is the Managing Director and Founder of the investment company United Sustainability GmbH, Cologne. In the trade fair sector, he is the jury chairman of the ‘Internorga Future Award’ of Hamburg Messe and Congress GmbH, co-founded the ‘goodgoods. Trade Fair for Sustainable Consumption’ and is the advisory board chairman of the Ecostyle trade fair of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.
Furthermore, JDD is an advisory board member of the Association of German Scientists, a member of the German Association of The Club of Rome, a founding donor of the Desertec Foundation, a Global Fellow of the G20 Foundation, a Fellow for Global Responsibility of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, and a member of the ‘Working Group on Sustainable Financial Policy’ on the Advisory Board for Sustainable Development of the State of Brandenburg, as well as a curator and founding member of the Utopia Foundation.
