Born on July 6, 1948, Bruno Parmentier is an author, speaker, and consultant.
He graduated from the École des Mines de Paris and the École Pratique des Hautes Études in 1972. He is married and has 4 children. After a career spent in France and Mexico, largely in the press (Training and Improvement Center for Journalists) and in publishing (Editions La Découverte, Editions du Cerf, National Center for Educational Documentation), he led the Groupe École Supérieure d’Agriculture d’Angers from 2002 to 2011. He is the author of the trilogy:
On agriculture: Nourishing Humanity, the Major Issues of Global Agriculture (Editions La Découverte 2007, paperback edition in 2009),
On food: Feeding Everyone Well (Editions du Seuil 2011)
On hunger: Zero Hunger, Ending Hunger in the World (Editions La Découverte 2014).
He now dedicates most of his time to conferences or media appearances on agriculture, food, and hunger. He is, among other roles, a board member of the Association for Ecologically Intensive Agriculture, the Society of Readers of Le Monde, the Childhood Foundation, Action Against Hunger, SOliHA – Solidaires pour l’habitat des Pays de la Loire (League Against Slums), and the CNAM des Pays-de-la-Loire, and he is the president of the Monitoring Committee of Tomorrow the Earth.
