Amitava Chattopadhyay is INSEAD Chair Professor in Marketing and Innovation—Professor of Marketing at INSEAD. Professor Chattopadhyay is an expert on branding and innovation. His recently published book with McGraw-Hill entitled “The New Emerging Market Multinationals: Four Strategies for Disrupting Markets and Building Brands”, has received critical recognition. Over the past three decades he has published more than 60 articles, with the majority appearing in leading international journals.

Professor Chattopadhyay is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Consumer Psychology and an Area Editor for the International Journal of Research in Marketing. He is on the editorial review boards of the Journal of Consumer Research and Long Range Planning. He has been on the Advisory Board of the Association for Consumer Research and is currently serving on the Association’s Board of Directors. For his research, he has been the recipient of several awards, including the Robert Ferber Award. He is a Fellow of the Institute on Asian Consumer Insights and the Ernst & Young Institute for Emerging Market Studies.

Professor Chattopadhyay has developed and taught courses on Branding, Marketing in Emerging Markets, International Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Marketing Communications, which he has taught in MBA, EMBA, and PhD students.  Through his consulting, customized workshops, and keynote addresses, Professor Chattopadhyay has been associated with leading MNCs, including Akzo Nobel, Alder Consulting (Nigeria), Bayer Healthcare, BBK (China), Bertelsmann, Brandhouse, Ceat Tyres, Citibank, Diageo, East African Breweries (Kenya), Fresenius Medical Care, Gallup Organization, Health Canada, Hanjung, HCL Group , HSBC, Hyundai Motor Company, Indian Railways, Kitply Industries (India), LG Electronics, Mahindra and Mahindra, Miller’s Mutual (USA), Meritus Mandarin Hotels, Murugappa Group (India), Novartis, Piraeus Bank (Greece), Publicis, Samsung Electronics, Savola Foods (Saudi Arabia), STS Informatique (Canada), Tata Sons, TVS (India), and Young & Rubicam.

He is a regular speaker at industry forums and global events.  During 2012 he has spoken at the World Knowledge Forum in Seoul, the American Chamber in Hong Kong, the Institute on Asian Consumer Insights in Singapore, World Marketing Summit (hosted by Philip Kotler in Bangladesh), Brand Forum—AC Nielsen 2012 Best Brand Awards (Bangladesh), and a Canvas8 event in London.

Professor Chattopadhyay has also spoken at leading universities around the world such as Harvard Business School, The Wharton School, Duke University, University of California, Berkeley, New York University, London Business School, HEC (Paris), ESSEC (Paris), Koc University (Istanbul), Witts University (Johannesburg), Lahore University of Management Science, Indian School of Business, Tsinghua University, Korea University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Queensland (Australia), and many others.

Professor Chattopadhyay holds a Ph.D. from the University of Florida, a PGDM from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a B.Sc. (Honours) degree from Jadavpur University, India.
