Tom Palmaerts has been a trendwatcher and partner at Trendwolves, the European Youth Intelligence office, since 2008. Trendwolves investigates the spirit of the times, conducts trend research, and seeks trend implementation opportunities for governments and companies. Tom Palmaerts is an internationally sought-after speaker for inspiration sessions across various sectors. In 2009, the Dutch trendwatchers platform Second Sight awarded Tom Palmaerts the title of ‘Specialist Trendwatcher of the Year’ for his drive, originality, and passion. Since the academic year 2012-2013, Palmaerts has been teaching trendwatching and futuring courses within the postgraduate program at Ghent University. In 2015, he published a book titled ‘Futures’ together with Herman Konings and Joeri van den Bergh. In 2017, Tom turned one of his passions into work by purchasing a vineyard with three friends; a tasteful and exciting adventure. At the end of 2019, his second book was published: ‘Ready or Not. 11 Ways to Become Future Proof.’ Today, Tom Palmaerts is fascinated by the combination of long-term thinking and contemporary cultural shifts.
