Whether he provokes or pleases, Stéphane Bern continues to spark curiosity and admiration. Both a journalist, writer, TV presenter, radio host, producer, and actor, Stéphane excels in everything he undertakes. Born on November 14, 1963, in Lyon, Stéphane Bern completed his baccalaureate at Lycée Carnot in Paris. Graduating from the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Lyon, he began his career in the press in 1985 with Dynastie, “the magazine of the great families”, where he served as editor-in-chief. This marked the beginning of his media adventure within the international Gotha. After a brief stint in 1988 at the weekly Jours de France, he became a senior reporter and then head of the Events department at Madame Figaro. To this day, he has never left the Figaro world. Since 1999, he has been the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper’s three magazines. Simultaneously, Stéphane Bern ventured into radio. Initially on Europe 1, he handled a segment on royal news from 1992 to 1997. Philippe Bouvard then invited him to join the table of Les Grosses Têtes on competitor RTL. Finally, in 1999, France Inter called on him to host the 11 am to 12:45 pm slot. Since then, he has successfully produced and hosted Le Fou du Roi, surrounded by his loyal team of columnists. However, it is mainly on television that Stéphane Bern became known to the general public. On TF1, he became the creator and host of Sagas. He also collaborated on several shows such as Famille je vous aime, Les Grosses Têtes, Echos de Stars, Boulevard des célébrités, and Célébrités. Meanwhile, Stéphane continued his work on crowned heads and published numerous books such as Diane de France, la princesse rebelle (2003), Rainier de Monaco et les Grimaldi (1999), Moi, Amélie, dernière reine du Portugal (1997), La monarchie dans tous ces états (1992), and Mon royaume à moi, his biography published in 2000. His writing talent and imagination were once again realized in the fall of 2006 with the publication of his novel Un si joli monde, a satire of high society. In 2007, he published an album in tribute to Princess Grace of Monaco, “Grace Kelly”, and a new novel featuring Marie Blanc, the magician of Monte-Carlo, “Plus belle sera la vie” (Plon). In 2009, he released three new books, an album on royal and presidential dogs “Une vie de chien” (Albin-Michel), a novel set in Greece, “Oubliez-moi” (Flammarion), and a beautiful book on the art of living in the Highlands “Au coeur de l’Écosse” (Flammarion) co-written with Franck Ferrand, illustrated by photos from Guillaume de Laubier and prefaced by Lady Cawdor. In November 2010, he published “Secrets d’Histoire” with Albin Michel. The year 2003 marked a turning point for Stéphane Bern. In September, he joined Canal+ to take the helm of a daily show, 20h10 Pétantes. With Ariel Wizman by his side, the show was a success, breaking his image as a society commentator. In September 2006, after three years on the encrypted channel and after taking to the stage in the play Numéro Complémentaire, Stéphane Bern chose to take on a new challenge by joining France 2 to host L’Arène de France. For two years, Stéphane Bern has presented “Secrets d’Histoire”, initially in a weekly Sunday format (2007-2008 season) and then as prime-time broadcasts during the summer (2008 and 2009). In February 2013, Stéphane Bern acquired the former Royal and Military College of Thiron-Gardais (Eure-et-Loir) to restore, rehabilitate, and open to the public a museum dedicated to the royal colleges of France.
