About Roelf de Boer

Roelf de Boer (1949) was Minister of Traffic and Public Works in the Balkenende I cabinet in the Netherlands. In October 2002, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister. De Boer was employed by the Royal Nedlloyd Group in West Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands (Rotterdam and Amsterdam) (1972-1984). After that, he was the director of the Furness Shipping Agency Company in Rotterdam and General Director of Lehnkering Logistics in Rotterdam/Barendrecht. He successfully reorganized the company in 1989.

Roelf de Boer became President-Director of European Waterways Transport Holding in Zwijndrecht, a subsidiary of RAG Coal International in Essen, Germany, in 1999. Three years later, he became Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in Rotterdam. He was appointed a member of the federative board of Dutch Royal Transport (KNV) in 2004 and became General Chairman later that year. He is Chairman of Deltalinqs, the society of harbor entrepreneurs.

His current roles include: member of the general board and Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Economic Development Board Rotterdam (EDBR); member of the Advisory Board of Global Conference Organisers (GCO), Sliedrecht; member of the International Scientific Committee of Policy Research Corporation, Antwerp; member of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation against Financial and Economic Criminality in the Netherlands; Chairman of Deltalinqs; Chairman of the Rotterdam Port Promotion Council (RPPC); member of the Advisory Board of ING Bank, Rotterdam; and Chairman of Sea Alarm (oiled Wildlife Response), Brussels.
