
Michel Bon is chairman of the Supervisory Board of Editions du Cerf, the Dominicans’ publishing house and of Devoteam, a listed information technologies services company, with around 5 000 employees and a turnover of 500M€.
Michel Bon is chairman of the Supervisory Board of Editions du Cerf and senior advisor to Roland Berger, a leading strategy-consulting firm. He serves on the boards of several companies including Lafarge and Sonepar in France and Sonae in Portugal.
He is also chairman of Foundation Nationale pour l’Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises (FNEGE), a public foundation that aims to enhance business education, as well as chairman of Fondact, an employers non profit organisation promoting a better participation of employees to companies profits.
Previously, he spent ten years in the banking sector and in 1985, joined Carrefour, the largest European retail company as CEO and then chairman & CEO. He left in 1993, when he was appointed by the Government to head the French Agency for Employment, ANPE, up until 1995.
He became chairman and CEO of France Telecom from 1995 to 2002. During this period, France Telecom opened up to competition, went public and became one of the leading telecom operators, with key positions in mobile (Orange), network services (Equant) and internet.
He also served as Chairman of Institut Pasteur, the world famous research centre, of Institut de l’Entreprise, a leading French employers association and ESSEC, the business school, and he was the founder and first chairman of the French chapter of Transparency International.
He was educated at ESSEC, ENA and Stanford.
