About Jelle Kuiper

Theater maker Jelle Kuiper has created various cabaret performances with which he successfully toured across the Netherlands. Jelle stands out because he creates theater in unusual places: at campsites, on the pier of Scheveningen, or in a meadow on Terschelling. His talent for humorously engaging with the audience, his sense of timing, and his genuine curiosity about everything allow him to be multifunctional. Custom theater for conferences or in companies can certainly be counted among his specialties. Also interesting to know: since 2006, Jelle has been an official wedding officiant, making him the first cabaret artist to conduct weddings!

Fakespeech

A fakespeech by Jelle is tailor-made. Name a topic, and Jelle will perform as an expert in areas such as: healthcare systems, terrorism, communication, or competency-based education. You can think of anything, and Jelle has either promoted it or written a book about it. Conference attendees are thus led astray. Who is this clumsy young man? Gradually, the audience realizes that it is an act. This way, Jelle provides a light-hearted and surprising contrast to the serious program components at conferences.

Quiz

Another role that Jelle enjoys playing is that of quizmaster. During the conference, Jelle comes up with quiz questions to playfully test whether the attendees have learned something by the end of the event. Of course, the multiple-choice answers are filled with nonsense. The quiz concludes with a real prize ceremony. The hilarious moments that arise from this are an excellent means for a smooth transition from the conference to, for example, a closing reception.

Presentation

Presenting is in Jelle’s blood. In many theaters, Jelle has presented the opening of the new theater season. He is the host of the Amsterdam Kleinkunst Festival and presents annually at the Uitmarkt in Amsterdam. The business sector and (semi-)government have also discovered Jelle as a presenter: he was the host at Café Reuring, presented the opening of the Museum of Superfluous Policy, and conducted the award ceremony for the Ergonomics Award, among others.

Special: Custom Wedding

Jelle is the first cabaret artist in the Netherlands who is officially allowed to conduct weddings! After a very personal pre-conversation with the couple, Jelle connects the bride and groom, entirely tailored to their specific wishes, in a cabaret-style ceremony. This does not mean that Jelle does not take the ceremony seriously; the personal character and intimacy are paramount. There is plenty of room for a speech, a musical interlude, and interaction with the guests.

In short: a wedding ceremony conducted by Jelle is original, intimate, and special for the couple and guests. The stranger the couple’s wishes, the more fun Jelle finds it. Want to say ‘I do’ with your feet in the surf, in a haystack, in your own garden, or on a moving train? Experience shows that with a bit of creativity and perseverance, much more is possible than you think! Jelle is happy to brainstorm about the possibilities, and if necessary, he mediates between the couple and the relevant municipality.
