How should you prepare your company for today’s disruptive innovations? Jan Kees de Jager has a clear vision on this and is able to explain which trends you should embrace and how to embrace them. He is daily engaged with the opportunities arising in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Robotics, mobile, and more. He sees new applications in various industries through these technologies. Work is changing, for example in the “Finance Function of the Future,” which will be completely different from now.
As a student, De Jager already had a profound interest in technology and innovation. Together with a fellow student, he founded Spectra Vision (later ISM eCompany), which at the time created one of the first well-functioning touchscreen devices that could be used in stores to look up information about books, perfume, and more. Following Amazon, they created one of the first webshops in the Netherlands. Today, the company operates globally in e-commerce and e-commerce software.
After his time as a student, Jan Kees de Jager was invited by Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende to join the Innovation Platform, which consisted of CEOs from corporates and politicians (Jeroen van der Veer from Shell). Under Balkenende’s leadership, they focused on the innovation climate in the Netherlands. In 2008, he was asked by Balkenende to become State Secretary for Finance in the Balkenende IV cabinet. He focused on simplifying the tax system for entrepreneurs and stimulating innovation. In the Rutte I cabinet, he was closely involved in the debt crisis as Minister of Finance and was a key figure in the establishment of the ‘spring agreement’ which led to necessary reforms in the Netherlands and subsequently the European Union.
Since January 2022, Jan Kees de Jager has been living and working in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). He has been the CEO of Easygenerator, a cloud-based authorization software developer founded in 2013.
