About Jaïr Ferwerda

Jaïr Ferwerda began his journalistic career in 1999 with the legendary television program Barend & Van Dorp. There, he developed into an editor, reporter, and program maker. In the following years, he contributed to numerous television productions, coverage of European Championships, World Cups, and Olympic Games, documentaries, and political programs.

After his time at Barend & Van Dorp, he worked intensively with Wilfried de Jong and Hugo Borst, creating the series “Over Vader en Zonen” for VPRO, among other works. Additionally, he produced political documentaries for AVROTROS and presented programs for outlets such as Het Gesprek and KRO-NCRV.

His name became firmly associated with Dutch politics through Het Binnenhof van Jaïr, where he reported on political life in The Hague in his distinctive fashion. In 2026, his book Het Binnenhof van Jaïr was published, reflecting on a quarter-century of political journalism, special encounters, and memorable moments behind the scenes of power.

In addition to his work as a journalist, Jaïr is a co-founder of Verhalenmarkt, a platform that connects journalists and editorial teams in the Netherlands and Flanders.
