Before Humberto Tan started his daily talk show RTL Latenight in August 2013, he was one of the most prominent sports faces in the Netherlands for many years. He presented NOS Studio Sport for 12 years, but also took on the presentation of the NOS Journaal for several years. Over the past decade, Humberto has presented programs at Talpa, hosted RTL Boulevard, and was the regular presenter of Eredivisie Live. RTL Late Night was immensely popular in its first seasons, and Humberto won award after award. After five seasons, Humberto unfortunately had to stop presenting RTL Latenight. The last broadcast week was legendary!
In 2014 and 2016, Humberto won the prestigious Zilveren Televizier-Ster Man. He was named JFK’s Greatest Man in 2014. Together with his youngest daughter, he appeared in the successful program Dance Dance Dance in 2015, where they made it to the semi-finals with their dance moves. In 2016, Humberto won the photography program Het Perfecte Plaatje, with the grand prize being the publication of his photos in the January 2017 edition of National Geographic!
Humberto is now presenting various other programs at RTL, including Dance Dance Dance, The Big Music Quiz, Het Zijn Net Mensen, and Holland’s Got Talent.
In the past, Humberto was regularly heard as a substitute for Radio 538 DJ Edwin Evers, but he truly made a name for himself as a radio presenter when he started hosting the daily BNR Nieuwsradio program ‘BNR Humberto Tan’ in October 2010. He hosted this program for 2.5 years, allowing listeners to get to know him from a different side. After that, he presented the program BNR Sportzaken every Saturday morning on this station until December 2014.
Humberto Tan has also established himself as an author and has a respectable number of books to his name. His first book ‘Het Surinaamse Legioen’ was published in 2000, followed by a photo book for the Red Cross. In 2010, his book ‘Rondom Tan’ was released, in which he interviews ten men. This book was followed in 2014 by ‘Rondom Tan Vrouwen’, where he interviews 10 women who inspire him. A few months later, the anthology ‘Als winnen makkelijk was’ was published, which contains a collection of the columns he wrote weekly for BNR Sportzaken. As if that wasn’t enough, he also compiled the soundbook ‘Let’s Dance’. Since 2015, he has been organizing Let’s Dance – a successful annual dance event – in the Ziggo Dome together with RTL.
Humberto studied Law in Amsterdam and serves as an ambassador for organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, the Dutch Red Cross, and the National Postcode Lottery.
In 2003, he launched his own clothing line HUMBERTO after being named the best-dressed man in the Netherlands a few years earlier.
