Harald Benink is a professor of Banking and Finance at the School of Economics and Management of Tilburg University. He is also a senior research associate at the Financial Markets Group of the London School of Economics and a member of the Sustainable Finance Lab.

Harald Benink has been a professor of Banking & Finance at the School of Economics and Management of Tilburg University since 2008. Previously, he was a professor at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University from 1999 to 2008. He is also a research associate at the Financial Markets Group of the London School of Economics and a member of the Sustainable Finance Lab.
Benink is an internationally recognized expert in the field of regulation and supervision of financial institutions and markets, as well as in European monetary and financial integration. His research has been published in leading academic journals (such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Financial Stability, and Journal of Financial Services Research).

Since 1998, he has been the chairman of the European Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee, a group of prominent professors from a dozen European countries that regularly provides policy advice on financial regulation and supervision. Benink also initiated the establishment of Shadow Financial Regulatory Committees in Latin America (2000), Asia (2004), and Australia-New Zealand (2006).
