Born in 1950 in Meknes (Morocco), a graduate of IEP Paris (Economic and Financial Section – 1972), Doctor in Management (Université Paris Dauphine) and Doctor in Political Science (holder of an HDR), Elie Cohen has pursued a dual career as a researcher and higher education teacher.
Research student at the École des Mines then research officer at the Center for Sociology of Innovation at the École des Mines, he later joined CNRS as Research Director at the Public Policy Analysis Group of Paris 1 then at Cevipof (FNSP).
As a Lecturer then Professor, Elie Cohen has taught at IEP, ENS Ulm, ENA, Harvard, and the Collège des Ingénieurs.
Author of numerous articles in scientific journals, Elie Cohen has published several books on Industrial Economics and Public Policies. Among the most recent are: The World Economic Order: Essay on Regulatory Authorities (Paris, Fayard, 2001, European Economics Book Prize), The New Age of Capitalism (Paris, Fayard, 2005), and Rethinking the Crisis (Paris Fayard 2010).
Member of the Economic Analysis Council to the Prime Minister since 1997, Elie Cohen has authored the following reports: Public Service, Public Sector (with C. Henry, 1997), Industrial Policies for Europe (with JH Lorenzi, 2000), Auctions and Public Management (with M. Mougeot, 2001) and Education and Growth (with P. Aghion, 2004).
