Born in September 1957, a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies in Paris and holding a Diploma of Advanced Studies in the history of international relations from Paris 1 Sorbonne University, Christian Makarian was a reporter at RTL (1980-1982) before joining the magazine Le Point in 1984 as a journalist in the Political department. Appointed head of the Political department in 1987, he became a senior reporter and head of the Society department at Le Point in 1992.
