Grammy-winning conductor | Music producer | Leadership through music
An orchestra unites dozens of specialists and instruments into a single harmonious whole. That is exactly where its lessons for business lie: in leadership, collaboration and communication under pressure. Grammy-winning conductor and producer Christian Gansch knows both worlds intimately and brings them together on stage.
Our consultants would be happy to advise you on how best to tailor the narrative to your specific target audience.
Christian Gansch is an internationally acclaimed conductor, music producer and consultant, born in Austria. His book From Solo to Symphony, on what businesses can learn from orchestras, became a major success in the German-speaking world and established him as a sought-after keynote speaker.
From 1981 to 1990, Christian Gansch was section leader of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. He then moved into the music industry, producing more than 190 CDs worldwide with artists such as Claudio Abbado, Lang Lang, Pierre Boulez, Daniel Barenboim and Anna Netrebko, and with orchestras including the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, the Metropolitan Opera New York and the London Symphony Orchestra. He won three Grammy Awards and many other international honours, among them the Record Academy Award in Tokyo.
His productions reach well beyond the concert hall. With Sharon Stone as narrator he produced the English version of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, and with Samuel L. Jackson he recorded the text of Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait. Film composer John Williams conducted the Boston Symphony Orchestra in a Gansch production featuring music from Schindler’s List. As a conductor, Christian Gansch worked with orchestras across the world and made his debut at the Proms in London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Since 2003, Christian Gansch has advised major companies on communication and what he calls “orchestral consciousness”. Drawing on his dual career as musician and manager, he shows how the way an orchestra listens, aligns and performs offers a clear model for any organisation that wants to turn a group of specialists into one team.
