Art Rooijakkers is a presenter and program maker with a journalistic background. He started his career as the youngest reporter ever at NOVA and has since built a recognizable position in the Dutch television and radio world, with various own programs and successful collaborations.
After his time at NOVA, Art Rooijakkers worked successively for AT5 and Net5. His major breakthrough came with programs like Peking Express and De Spaanse Droom. After winning Wie is de Mol? in 2011, he moved to AVRO, where he presented the program for seven years and won a Gouden Televizier-Ring in 2013. Art has been nominated multiple times for the Zilveren Televizier-Ster and hosted the gala himself twice. At AVROTROS, he also made programs like Fort Boyard, Cash op Zolder, and Helden van de Wildernis.
In 2018, Art made the switch to RTL, where he presented the talk show Zomer met Art, the personality program Rooijakkers over de Vloer, and the studio show DNA Singers, among others. Art feels at home in the combination of entertainment and journalism. He presents the radio program BNR’s Big Five with as much pleasure as RTL4 titles like Expeditie Robinson, Praat Nederlands met Me, and B&B Vol Liefde. Starting in 2025, he will be seen as a presenter at Talpa Network.
In addition to his television work, Art wrote a weekly column in Het Parool in 2019 and 2020 about the future of his twin daughters, titled De Eeuw van mijn Dochters. Under the same name, he also created a radio program, a podcast, and published a book in 2020.
Art has also been an ambassador for Stichting Vluchteling for many years. He has participated multiple times in the Nacht van de Vluchteling and visited crisis areas in Iraq, Nigeria, and Colombia to raise awareness for the plight of people on the run.
