Born in 1978, Zahia Ziouani is a conductor with a rich artistic background, characterized by her energetic and passionate commitment to music and its promotion.
Holder of several conservatory awards (alto, classical guitar, chamber music), she graduated in analysis, orchestration, and Musicology from the University of Paris IV Sorbonne. In 1996 and 1997, she trained with the renowned Maestro Sergiù Celibidache after being selected to join his conducting class in Paris, Munich, and Germany.
Since 1996, she has been conducting the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra and has also been the principal associate conductor of the Densités 93 instrumental ensemble since 2005.
In 2007, she conducted numerous renowned orchestras: the Cairo National Orchestra, the Tunis National Orchestra, and the regional orchestra of Pays de la Loire. Among her many invitations, she collaborated in 2012 with the National Orchestra of Pays de la Loire.
As part of international festivals, she is regularly invited to conduct other symphonic formations and foreign orchestras (Russia, Romania, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Spain, Germany, France, Australia, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, and China).
With over 450 concerts given as a conductor, her reputation and talent allow her to perform in prestigious venues in France (Cité de la Musique-Paris, Salle Pleyel-Paris, Salle Gaveau-Paris, Olympia, the Senate, the Basilica of Saint-Denis,…). Great personalities from the French and international music world have performed alongside her: Raphaël Pidoux (cello), Jean-Marc Philips-Varjabédian (violin), Sophie Koch (voice), Ferruccio Furlanetto (voice), Deborah Nemtanu (violin), Vincent Léonard (horn), Philippe Hanon (bassoon)…
In June 2008, she founded the Classiq’à Stains festival to promote music to all audiences. She has also been invited to provide artistic guidance alongside the Cité de la Musique and the Orchestre de Paris for the “DEMOS” project aimed at raising awareness of orchestral practice among children from Paris and its region.
For her remarkable activities, she received the “Trophy for Women’s Achievement” at the Senate in 2006. In 2007, she was awarded the highest distinction for her contribution to the musical life of Algeria: “the First Music Prize,” awarded by the President of the Algerian Republic. In 2008, she was promoted to “Knight of the National Order of Merit” of the French Republic. A documentary illustrating her journey and career as a conductor, broadcast on Arte, France Télévision, and Mezzo in 2011, marked a significant milestone in the career of this conductor with an exceptional background.
