Tom van 't Hek was previously a general practitioner, top hockey player, and national coach of the women's hockey team. Nowadays, he is a radio presenter, moderator, and guest speaker.
Tom van ‘t Hek is a radio presenter and guest speaker, former top hockey player, and former national coach of the Dutch women’s hockey team. He was destined to become a general practitioner. He did so and worked as a general practitioner for four years. His love and passion for the sport of hockey ultimately led him down a different path. In hockey, he achieved the greatest successes imaginable as a player. Tom played for 16 years in the Dutch national hockey team. With his club, Utrecht’s Kampong, this left winger became Dutch champion and participated in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Tom van ‘t Hek was the coach of the Dutch women’s hockey team for six years. Under his leadership, the team became European champions, won the Champions Trophy, and the women earned two bronze medals at the Olympic Games (1996 and 2000). Since 1995, Tom van ‘t Hek has been working as a presenter for the radio. He has presented programs such as Het Hek van de Dam, Radio Tour de France, and the Sunday afternoon edition of NOS Langs de Lijn. From 2013 until the summer of 2016, Tom was the regular presenter of the radio program “De Ochtendspits” at BNR Newsradio.
