Tako Rietveld is a journalist, presenter, and Child Correspondent. For over ten years, he reported both domestically and internationally for the NOS Jeugdjournaal. From the Queen’s Day drama in Apeldoorn to the Olympic Games in China and the World Cup in Brazil. He is now the first and only Child Correspondent in the world, allowing children to tell their stories during major news events. Tako feels more at home among children and young people than anyone else and knows how to engage an adult audience just as well. He is an inspiring and enthusiastic speaker and moderator who communicates clearly and humorously.
Tako Rietveld graduated in 2001 from the School for Journalism in Utrecht. He quickly found his place at the NOS Jeugdjournaal. For many children and their parents, the reporter and presenter were an integral part of the Jeugdjournaal, yet Tako started working for himself in 2015 to give children around the world a voice. Children are often in the spotlight, yet they are rarely truly listened to. And yet, everyone could learn from their perspective on the world. Tako Rietveld was born without a right hand. A disability he does not see as a hindrance. It does not stop him from pursuing and realizing his dreams.
In 2015, Tako Rietveld was elected the winner of the first TEDx Open Stage competition for speakers. As a presenter, Tako Rietveld knows how to keep both young and old engaged. With his humor, improvisation, and extensive general knowledge, he captivates any audience effortlessly from start to finish.
