Graduated from a Business School, Stéphane Bridé joined the Ernst & Young firm in 1992. During the 17 years spent in this firm, he led the SME departments ‘Entrepreneur’, created a line of Transition Management services before opening the local Ernst & Young office in Moldova. In just 3 years, he took the leadership of this market. A period of 14 months allowed him, during these years spent in auditing and consulting, to successfully lead an ambitious reorganization and restructuring project in the agri-food and distribution sector. This project involved 3 companies and nearly 1400 employees. Then, in 2010 he decided to join the competing firm Grant Thornton and to create the subsidiary in Moldova. He became in 2012 the Foreign Trade Advisor of France in Moldova, a censor and then treasurer of the France-Moldova Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a censor of the Alliance Française in Moldova.
Building on his success within Grant Thornton in Moldova, he developed the Romanian subsidiary in 2011, which grew significantly until 2015. In January 2015, Stéphane Bridé, then Chartered Accountant and Auditor in Moldova, was approached by the Democratic Party of Moldova to propose him to take the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of the Republic of Moldova.
This is the highest position ever held by a French person within a foreign government.
Although a technocrat by nature, the government called upon his experience to accelerate the reform process within the framework of the Association Agreement signed with the European Union. During his term, he participated in numerous gatherings and meetings in Brussels (within the framework of the association agreement, energy, economic forums, etc.) in Europe as well as in Asia and the Middle East.
Stéphane Bridé was also a leader in negotiations between Moldova and various missions of the International Monetary Fund, with the World Bank, EBRD, EIB, IFC, etc.
He held this position between 2015 and 2016. He is now a senior advisor and Partner responsible for Growth and Development within Grant Thornton Moldova and Romania.
