
Born in 1953 Stéphane Bourgoin has written more than 40 books since 1983. Twenty of them are about serial killers and his most well-known book, « Serial killers – Enquête sur les tueurs en série » (Grasset, 1991), has sold more than a million copies in France and has been translated in 15 countries.
His latest books are « Serial killers – Enquête mondiale sur les tueurs en série », published by Grasset in June 2011, « Tueurs » published by Grasset in November 2010 and « Profileuse – Une femme sur la trace des serial killers », published by Points Policier in January 2011.
Stéphane Bourgoin’s wife was murdered in 1976. Two years later, the murderer was arrested and he confessed to a dozen murders. Since 1979, Stéphane Bourgoin has interviewed more than 70 serial killers all over the world. He is the fouding member of « Victimes en Série », one of the biggest French victims’ association. For more than 12 years, he has been teaching officers at the Gendarmerie Nationale about the psychology of serial offenders.
In France, he directed the first documentary on serial killers for the public channel France 3 in 1991. For the last twenty years, he has filmed more than 100 documentaries for TF1, France 2, France 3, Arte, Canal Plus, M6, TMC, etc. He is the author of two TV series « Dans la tête d’un tueur en série avec Stéphane Bourgoin » for Planète Justice and « Serial Killers – Stéphane Bourgoin enquête » for Planète which aired in 2010. In 2011, he made a new series consisting of 8 documentaries for Planète Justice.
