Steijn Spreij began his career as a coach and Performance Analyst in hockey. As a coach, he worked for many clubs in the Dutch league and with the national teams U16, U18, and the Youth Olympic Team. As an analyst, he was part of the staff for the National men’s and women’s hockey teams, participating in two European Championships, a World Cup, and the Olympic Games.
In 2013, Steijn also joined the Football Association as an analyst during the U21 European Championship in Israel. After the European Championship, he was employed by the KNVB as a Performance Analyst for the Dutch National Team, where he was part of the staff during the 2014 World Cup and the 2021 European Championship. As a Performance Analyst, Steijn utilizes video, data, and technology for match analysis, scouting, and player monitoring. Currently, Steijn is still the Performance Analyst for the Dutch National Team and Manager of Performance Analysis and Technology within the K.N.V.B.
In his presentations, Steijn provides insights into performance management in a high-performance sports environment. He answers many questions: How do you ensure that a team operates at its best? What is the structure of the organization, policy, vision, and principles, and what data is available? How is this data collected, and what technologies are used? And how is this data implemented in the process to maximize team performance?
In short: what can we learn from top hockey and football insights obtained through data?
And perhaps even more interesting: what can you do with data in your organization? How does a transition to data-driven work and data infrastructure within an organization take place? What is important, what could be the principles, and where are the dangers? How do you build a team/department in this area? What roles/knowledge/domains are important now and in the future? What should you consider when using “live” data? Finally, he shares his perspective on developments in the field of Performance Analysis and Technology.
It promises to be an interactive lecture as Steijn enjoys engaging with his audience and responding to their questions.
