She holds a PhD, is a former bank director and head of training, and today an entrepreneur – a renowned bestselling author and business ethicist, advising the Who’s Who of business and politics. She leads a globally active economic and management consulting firm in Zurich and is one of the most sought-after keynote speakers and panel guests in Europe. Dr. Sonja A. Buholzer can also be requested as a discussion leader and moderator for panel events on economics and politics.
After studying literary studies, philosophy, literary criticism, and history at the University of Zurich, culminating in a PhD, Buholzer initially worked as a research assistant and lecturer at the State University of New York. Following a management training program at the University of Zurich, she led the international training of a major bank, later overseeing the overall training of a Swiss bank, and was one of the youngest and few women in the bank’s executive levels at that time.
Since 1994, Sonja A. Buholzer has been successfully working with her own company as a personal advisor and sparring partner to top business and political circles, coaching CEOs, management teams, boards, and individual executives in the areas of leadership, management, and communication – including numerous women in management.
She feels the pulse of the economy and understands the inner workings of successful strategies for leadership, communication, innovation, and change management in economically turbulent times. In light of current economic and ecological challenges, she advocates for a radical paradigm shift, particularly in the upper echelons of management: she highlights the new role of leaders and provides concrete action guidelines to encourage the implementation of entrepreneurial ideas.
As a voluntary foundation board member, she is also committed to ethically sustainable organizations and women in management. She was one of the first Rotary presidents in Zurich and was honored for her engagement with the Paul Harris Fellow award from Rotary International. “The world of tomorrow, the world of our children, is in our hands. Today, we set the political and economic course for that.” (Dr. Sonja A. Buholzer)
