Sita Mazumder earned her PhD in 2001 from the Swiss Banking Institute at the University of Zurich with summa cum laude. In 2002, her dissertation “The Diligence of Swiss Banks in Light of Corruption Prevention and Combat” was awarded the Annual Research Prize of the University of Zurich.
She initially studied engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, from where she later transferred to the University of Zurich. In 1999, she completed her Master of Science in Economics. Her academic journey has taken her to the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, where she completed her PostDoc, Inholland University in the Netherlands, and the University of the Fraser Valley in Vancouver, Canada. In 2011, Sita Mazumder was selected by the US Department of State for the International Visitor Leadership Program.
Currently, Sita is a Professor of Economics at the Institute for Financial Services Zug IFZ of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She also teaches at various institutions both domestically and internationally. Her professional career includes positions at the Federal Banking Commission (now FINMA), UBS AG, oprandi & partner, and her former company.
Sita Mazumder also runs her own consulting firm PURPLE Consult GmbH, is a Senior Partner at comexperts AG, and serves as a board member, foundation board member, and advisory board member at various organizations including Coutts & Co. AG, Hiltl AG, ombudscom, Transparency International Switzerland, and alphacare AG. Additionally, she is the author of numerous books and articles and regularly writes columns.
