Siela Ardjosemito-Jethoe is a cultural anthropologist and sociologist who focuses on diversity and inclusion in education, culture, and welfare. She has been working on advancing diversity and inclusion for the past 20 years. Initially from the welfare sector and later from higher education and national and local government. As a Cultural Anthropologist, she finds it particularly important to contribute to cultural change in the field of diversity and inclusion. To this end, she has developed numerous processes, concepts, and programs that were both policy-oriented and more practical.
Until recently, she was a policy advisor on diversity and inclusion at Leiden University, and as of June 1, 2021, she has started as the Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the University of the Arts in The Hague. Additionally, she runs her own company ‘Connecting the Dot’s unlimited’ where she provides training, coaching, and consultancy in the welfare, education, and cultural sectors.
She has contributed to various publications such as Superdivers! (2013), Unwritten Heritage (2017), and Diversity in Society (2017 and 2020), where she is also the editor-in-chief. Furthermore, she writes a monthly column on diversity and inclusion for the Sarnamihuis, co-hosts the podcast Diversity in Check with her family, and is co-responsible for the podcast ‘Just Call It White.’.
